After a long six months, we couldn’t be more excited to Get Down to the West End when SIX the musical transfers to the Lyric Theatre London for 11 weeks of COVID-secure performances. But as Anne Boleyn, Catherine Parr and company prepare to welcome audiences back in November, we know there are lots of questions about how exactly a socially distanced trip to the theatre will work.
The Lyric Theatre has been working hard to introduce measures that ensure you can return to the West End and #SeeItSafely.
There’s a lot to consider, but don’t lose your head! Below, we’ve got information on everything from booking tickets to post-show Test and Trace to make sure your visit is safe, straightforward, and fit for a Queen.
When booking SIX musical tickets online, an algorithm adjusts availability depending on which seats are selected. The seats on either side of your own will be kept empty in line with COVID-19 social distancing requirements.
You may notice that tickets you selected suddenly become unavailable for this reason. Don’t worry, just pick new seats and you should be able to complete your booking in no time.
After booking, there is a small chance you may be contacted to swap seats. However this will simply be to ensure all social distancing and safety guidelines are being followed.
The Lyric Theatre will allow ticket exchanges up to 24 hours before your scheduled performance of SIX. If anyone in your party is feeling ill, you can switch to like-for-like tickets at a future performance, subject to availability.
Before your visit
The Lyric Theatre will send a pre-visit email 48 hours before your scheduled performance of SIX, which will include a link to check-in.
During check-in, you’ll need to confirm that no members of your party have COVID-19 symptoms. An e-ticket will then be sent to you within 24 hours. Make sure your tickets are easily accessible on your phone to keep things speedy and safe when you get to the theatre.
Don’t forget your mask! You’ll be required to wear one, subject to health exemptions, before being allowed into the venue.
At the venue
When you arrive at the Lyric Theatre, you’ll be given a temperature check and asked to keep your mask on for the duration of your visit, apart from when eating or drinking. Hand sanitiser stations have been installed and social distancing will be in place throughout.
Cloakroom storage will not be available, so try to keep any bags and belongings small enough to take into the auditorium.
If you want a drink or snacks to enjoy during SIX, you can pre-order refreshments to minimise queuing at the bar.
Staff will be on-hand to guide you through the theatre and make sure you feel comfortable; they can answer any other questions you have on the day.
There are new cleaning protocols in place too: Lyric Theatre staff will be carrying out regular disinfection and the venue will be thoroughly cleaned before every performance of SIX.
After your visit
If any audience members develop symptoms of COVID-19 after attending a performance of SIX, they must follow Government guidance for self-isolating and getting tested. If they test positive, NHS Test and Trace measures will be used to contact other audience members.
Your contact details, such as the email you booked with, will be held by the Lyric Theatre for 21 days after your performance in case you need to be contacted as part of the UK Government Test and Trace scheme.
