Edinburgh Fringe Festival favourite Showstopper! The Improvised Musical plays an extended season at the Lyric Theatre, following a smash-hit West End premiere at the Apollo Theatre. After countless sell-out runs at the famous Edinburgh festival, the Showstopper troupe received their first London run at the Apollo, impressing audiences and critics alike, earning four and five-star reviews across the board.

Created by Dylan Emery and Adam Meggido, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is 90 minutes of entirely improvised material. Night after night, the troupe come up with an all-new musical, featuring all-singing, all-dancing numbers based on a variety of audience suggestions. Seven quick-witted performers and their musical and technical team turn these suggestions into a full-on musical extravaganza, complete with props and costume.

Every night, the audience are subjected to something new, making Showstopper the perfect show to keep returning to! From romance to horror, comedy to downright ridicule, this is the only place that you can find a whole musical dedicated to a pig farm, Marks and Spencer’s or even the inner workings of a bakewell tart. Featuring songs themed to a range of West End shows and popstars, the Showstoppers invent perfectly harmonised songs on the spot that resemble something from The Lion King or even popular band Oasis!

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical began its life at the Actors Centre, when Meggido and Emery decided to host an improvisation workshop with a team of little or no experience. After a week of rehearsal, the team had to improvise a musical in front of a full audience – and Showstopper was born! Since then, the troupe have had their own radio show and have won several awards, including an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment & Family.

A cast of eleven complete the Showstoppers, with seven performing each night. Showstopper’s cast features a variety of experienced actors, comedians, improvisers, including Ruth Bratt, Pippa Evans, Susan Harrison, Sean McCann, Phillip Pellew, Oliver Senton, Lucy Trodd and Sarah Louise-Young.
